Media Type: Perfect Bound Book
Scope: Layout Design, Typographical Choices, Image Choice and Placement
Challenge: One of the challenges of this design was finding a balance between image and text composition that would not distract from the message of the excerpt. It was interesting to see how the effectiveness of the composition would change, when I made a small edit to the leading, text size, justification, etc.
Solution: I knew I wanted to disregard the idea of stagnant and monotonous spread compositions, so I drew thumbnail sketches of various spread layouts, and did extensive typographic research to choose the most fitting pair. After settling down a specific, minimal color palette, I chose my images on the feeling evoked in reading the passage and edited the images to have a cohesive color of pink/purple.
